Freedon, no more shopping for camcorder. This is the...

Strengths: Attractive design, lightweight, compact, No lens cap (closes automaticly, 3 chip system.

Weakness: Average low light performance, short battery life

It's produce clear and detail picture quality. I've compared this to Panasonic PV-GS250, Sony DCR-HC90 and DCR-PC350. Eventually, I picked this one because I like mostly matchbook style design and its color. Low light performance is on average and not as good as HC90 and PC350 because it only has color slow shutter at 7LUX minimun. No nightshot feature for complete darkness 0LUX but I like this...

A great family camcorder

Strengths: Small, good still picture quality, USB camera

Weakness: Need cradle to connect to a computer, battery doesn't last long

I have been looking for a hybrid camcorder to replace my 5 years old Sony DCR-TRV310 Digital 8 camcorder. The old one is pretty heavy and large. I felt very inconvenient while traveling. And while I am shooting video for my daughter(3 yrs old), I also want to take some still pictures at the same time, but I have to switch to another camera to do that. So two requirements for me were small and...

Sony Handycam DCR-PC1000 Digital Camcorder - 2.7"...

Strengths: Great sharp picture. No lens cap (closes automaticly!!!). Pretty small and light. I love how it's mostly a black camera too.

Weakness: No mic input! Usb & firewire are only on docking station. NP-FA50 battery it comes with only lasts about 70 - 100 mins. Mic is on the top, not on the front of the cam. Only 10x optical zoom.

NP-FA70 battery lasts anywhere from 160 - 200 Min's. Wish this cam had 15x or 20x optical zoom. I also bought the 2x high grade lens. It is big and adds a lot of weight, but to have 20x now is nice. If you have just under $1,000.00 (as of today) this camera is great, not perfect, but great!

The good, the bad and the beautiful

Strengths: Super quality pictures in daylight Looks and handles well

Weakness: Very bad quality pictures in low light conditions Serious focus problems in low light conditions

I bought this camera to replace my old Sony DCR-PC6. And in almost all ways it blows my old camera away. Most important of all the pictures are super clear, well defined and vibrant - this is by far the best pictures I've ever seen from a handycam. I love the small handy size, the easy navigation, the widescreen aspect, I have no problem with the battery life and the docking station is really...

Compact, sleek and feature rich with a few liveable...

Strengths: Compact size, sharp video, nice stills, and lots of bells and whistles.

Weakness: Lacks a focus ring, accessories use proprietary shoe, short battery life.

I've used my DCR-PC1000 for 2 weeks now and I really like it. The compact size is wonderful and the video is crisp, except in low light settings. Though I was worried about ergonomics, I haven't had any problems getting used to the matchbox design. The EASY mode for point-and-shoot camera work is great as expected--thanks, Sony. The zoom button is a little sensitive but I've gotten used to it...

First Impression...Favorable

Strengths: 3 CCD Sensor, Wide, touch-screen LCD, Compact Size, Docking Bay, Night-Shot, Digital-Analog pass-through

Weakness: Price, No seperate charger

The largest advantages of this camera are the 3 CCD imaging sensor and the large, wide-screen LCD. The compactness of the camera is nice and is a plus for me, but may be a negative for people with large hands. The controls are strategically placed to coincide with finger positioning when holding the camera and it seemed very natural to use. Now, for those with large hands, it will be very awkward...

Quick Review Camcorders: Sony DCR-PC1000

This camcorder is at the helm of the entire Sony 2005 line of MiniDV camcorders. The PC1000 has 3 CMOS chips with 790K gross pixels. CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) chips are an alternative to CCD chips. As head of the Sony MiniDV household, this camcorder stands apart from its smaller siblings with its imager, design, wealth of features, and manual control options. The PC1000 is...

Sony DCR-PC1000 Camcorder Review

Sony's DCR-PC1000 has great potential. It uses three new CMOS sensors, never before seen in a consumer grade camcorder, and they've managed to squeeze some pretty impressive performance out of the first CMOS camcorder. The DCR-PC1000 was theoretically designed with prosumer users in mind, and it follows in the steps of a great camcorder, the DCR-PC350. However, its closed architectural design,...
