Good value camcorder for home videos
Strengths: Good performance/$; decent low light performance; minimal tape motor noise contamination; viewfinder zoom/record buttons; simple operations
Weakness: Limited manual shutter speed control; touchscreen menu may frustrate some
Great performance overall. Its biggest weakness in the shrinking class of budget miniDV camcorders is the lack of manual shutter speed control. Instead shutter speed is altered via preset "SCENES". How much this impacts you depends on what environments you film in and whether Sony's preset values are satisfactory. The LCD touchscreen menu frustrates some, but personally I have no problems with it...
