The JVC GZ-HD3 Everio is a fun to use camcorder that provides very long recording times with high-def resolution. Along with its big brother the HD7, this camcorder employs Constant Bitrate Recording (CBR) and Variable Bitrate Recording (VBR) at 1920 x 1080 pixels. Great in bright light..
Strengths: Absolutely brilliant, crisp video in direct and indirect sunlight. Fast auto focus, quick aperture response when going from indoors to out. Great looking, not bad in your hand. Inexpensive...sorta.
Weakness: Not great in low light...thats what you get with 3 CCDs. Blacks or dark areas have little detail. Manual focus is not too useful, minimal manual settings to set up for dark lighting.
In moderate to bright settings this camera can put out a very crisp, focused image. I got the video clips off the hard drive and playing on the computer by downloading a free converter that works fast.
