Sony HDR-HC7Strengths: Small size, superior video and still picture quality. Easy to use. Weakness: Placement of flash selection button is awkward, but this is the only weakness I can come up with after 3 weeks. I am upgrading from a 6 year old digital 8 video camera and this HC7 is half the size. Chose to jump to high definition simply for the quality of video and to position myself to use this camera for at least the next 6 years. The image quality on a HD tv is clearly outstanding. On a conventional tv the video is still very good, comparable to a good DVD. I intend to archive my HD video until I can...

HD Video for Home MoviesStrengths: Beautiful HD video quality, user features, compact size, easy to switch between video, photo, and playback/edit modes; Playback options and user-friendly LCD touch screen Weakness: LCD screen could be a little larger; lack of 4-pin to6-pin firewire cable (comes with 4-pin to 4-pin); Manual can be a little awkward for finding the right information. I conducted a significant amount of research before making this purchase. I was upgrading from my Sony Hi8 that I bought over 10 years ago and was wanting to go with something high-end that would hopefully get me another 5-8 years. I debated heavily between the Canon HV-10, Sony HDR-SR1, and the new JVC that is being released in April. I was initially hoping to go with a hard drive model, such as...

It's a nice camcorder that you won't missStrengths: solid construction, sharp image quality, easy to use, nice design for both small hand and big one, manual control, nice still image, comes with a lot of accessories Weakness: LCD screen is small, and it is a touch screen, battery life, un-rising view finder It is the first camcorder I have ever bought, and I used to use Canon GL2 in school. It is a very handy camcord compare to the GL2, and looks nice with combining silver and black together. The camcorder has a very sharp image quality in both video and still image. Sony did a lot of work on this camcorder. The camcorder generates a lot of of professional functions from the it's older brother, and...

Sony Handycam HDR-HC7
THE GOOD: Excellent video and performance; satisfying photo quality; a decent set of manual controls for the target audience; bundled FireWire cable. THE BAD: Annoying touch screen interface. THE BOTTOM LINE: A great HD camcorder for deep-pocketed leisure shooters, as long as you like the Sony Handycam HDR-HC7s touch screen interface. Top

The Sony HDR-HC7 is a handheld camcorder that records high-definition video (1920x1080i) onto miniDV tapes. Part of Sonys 2007 lineup of camcorders the HC7 comes near the top of the line for the miniDV offerings. The cylindrical form-factor accommodates the large Carl Zeiss lens with 10x optical zoom. Similar to many modern camcorders the HC7 acts as both a video camera, and still digital camera.... TopAdvertisement

GREAT HDV BUT NO SO GREAT AS CAMERA
Strengths: Beautiful video, compact easy to used.
Weakness: so-so camera
I have purchase this to replace my old TRV 20 for our once in a lifetime Alaska trip.the camcorder stand up well in rugged / drizzling weather condition. Video came out really great. I pick mini DV format use because it is a test media easy to edit and media is inexpensive. just make sure you stick with one brand of mini DV and to avoid skipping fast forward to the end and rewind before using.
