Great video quality, decent digital photos, superb image stabilization, sharp close-ups. Remote control is great! Weakness: Battery only lasts slightly above 1 hour. 8 MB SD card, no mini DV cassette included. Limited power for LED light output. Requires drivers for USB connection to computer. Cheap plastic exterior. I got my GRD230 at $329 (AR) from Amazon last week, although it was listed at around $450 elsewhere. Easy to operate Weakness: noise of motor inside it is a very small,cute and portable digital mini dv camcorder with a SD card slot. Very easy to use and transfer still image & moving videos. A usb cable included. With the software,videos can be easily transfer from camcorder to computer through USB cable or firewire. But the USB driver is needed.

JVC GR-D230 Mini DV Digital CamcorderStrengths: Small and compact size which you can hold well with one hand.It does a great job in day time where the light is strong. It is worth the $300 AR. Weakness: Night shooting is a little bit blurry, even with the night alive mode. The battery only lasts 48 minutes and have to buy a backup now. It is a greatand compact camera considering the price. It is easy to use. It does not work very well in-doors. It does not look so smooth and fine like Sony's product

The picture quality is superb, so is the video recorded. The remote is a great plus! The only thing bothers me is the battery, has to be recharged in a hour. Small plastic part broke off when opening the cover to the power connection. Camera is very slow to focus in low light situations; For the price, this JVC mini-DV camcorder has a lot of high-end options that make it worth $400. The price is just right for beginner I believe. This is very easy to operate but when work with PC will take you more time to figure out because not much resources to search on JVC.com or Internet.
