GRD-93US in Las Vegas

Strengths: Excellent daytime video. Nice controlls. Light weight. Comes with remote which you can zoom in on video AFTER you record it. Very impressive.

Weakness: No mic input (as you've read everywhere). Too many models for sale, gets lost in the crowd.

Footage is excellent. Pete Rose was signing autographs at a sporting goods store in the "Canal Shops" on Las Vegas Boulevard, and I wanted to see how it did. I was not interested in his signature, rather wanted to see how this camera did in real world conditions (no second chance to capture footage). Did pretty well in the lighting provided by the shops (overhead lights). In those conditions, the...

JVC Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD

Strengths: 1.33-megapixel CCD, crisp image, and light weight

Weakness: Optical zoom (10X)

The digicam produces beautiful and crisp images in daylight condition and it also performs quite well at night times. The 1.33MP still image capability is well worth it considering the price. However, its optical zoom (10X) capability may well be improved (since the GR-D93 is claimed a mid-range choice from JVC).

JVC Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD

Strengths: Very good performance at night

Weakness: the battery is not good, it can only hold 1 hour

I bought this camcorder from amazon.com last Dec. It was a good deal at that time. $325, free shipping, plus $50 rebate. I haven't receive the rebate yet, but it is a good deal till now. This is a good camcorder. Small, light, and easy to use. It has good recording performance, specially at night, when I ordered this one, I read some comments from internet, this is one of the best camcorder at...

JVC Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD

Strengths: Image quality is good. Alright in low light situations. Battery life is alright, but definitely get a second longer-life battery if you want to tape for long periods of time. Nice and compact :)

Weakness: Motor sounds sometimes drown out any other audio that is being recorded. Image stabilization a bit bad when zooming far, but to be expected and is similar with other camcorders like it.

The battery that comes with the camera can be charged in about an hour and a half and has a decent life span. I was told by numerous sales people that it would take 4-8 hours to charge when it's on the camera itself (built in charger on the camera) and that the battery life was about 20 minutes. Don't believe everything you are told.

JVC Digital Camcorder - 2.5" LCD - CCD

After only using the product for about 5 times in the last 8 months, distorted lines appeared on the playback recordings. As recommended in the manual, I used a cleaning cassette which failed to correct the problem. Diagnosis by a JVC authorized service center showed that the main PC board was defective. The labor to fix it cost me $150 which JVC refused to compensate me because it was beyond the...

Quick Review Camcorders : JVC GR-D93

The JVC GR-D93 is the most expensive of the three GR-series camcorders at $699.99, but it’s still a good deal for the level of performance and functionality it offers. The JVC GR-D33 and JVC GR-D72 share similar 1/6-inch 680K CCDs, but the D93 steps it up with a 1/4-inch 1.33 megapixel CCD. With the larger CCD, the JVC GR-D93 can perform well in low light and record accurate colors.

JVC GR-D93 Camcorder Review

JVC recently launched the flagship MiniDV non-matchbook, or celebrity style camcorder, the GR-D93. The GR-D93 is the most expensive out of the GR line of camcorders which also includes the GR-D33 and the GR-D72. The GR-D93 has a MSRP of $699.99, but also integrates all of the other two camcorders functionality with a ¼ inch 1.33 megapixel CCD. This a big step up from the GR-D33 which is a...
