DREAM HDV CAMCORDER !!!

Strengths: Stunning 1080i High Defintion Widescreen 16:9 IMAGES !!!

Weakness: No external microphone input jack though there is a hot-shoe for attaching an external microphone.

The SONY HDR HC3 is my dream come true CAMCORDER !!! Here are the top 5 reasons why I would highly recommend this Camcorder to you : 1. Amazing 1080i High Defintion images as seen on my SONY 60' HDTV!!! The picture is hard to believe since it looks just like the awesome video quality on satellite channels like 'DISCOVERY HD THEATER' channel!!! 2. Small size and portabiltiy makes it perfect for...

Welcome to High Def recording.

Strengths: Picture quality

Weakness: no 5.1 surround

Just got the camcorder and was skeptical about how it would perform. Mainly because it's a sony and I've become skeptical about all their products, along with anger about their use of proprietary memory cards, connections, batteries, and accessories. Happy to say I'm really enjoying this camcorder. I'm amazed at the picture. I'm not a scientist so I'm going to keep this simple. I shoot video in...

Just what I wanted

Strengths: 1080i video, camcorder size, great colors and quality

Weakness: price, MPEG-2 compression

This camera is awesome. Video quality outdoors is like HD broadcast you see on HDTV, very detailed and colorful. I don't know why people whine about the absence of Mic-in jack? Who needs it, the mic on camera is good enough. Also there are HD capture and encoding tools available for free, google them. I would recommend everybody with HDTV to buy this camera.

Sony HC3 - Awesome camcorder!

Strengths: Stunning detail, great low light quality, very usable. Stills are also great!

Weakness: price - ouch

While pricey, this camera delivers unbelievable quality. It offers true widescreen, great quality, easy use, and is much more compact than last year's HC1. The price of tapes is also a downside, but it's worth the tradeoff.

A winner .. with a lot to improve ...

Strengths: Good noise free low light recording , excelent definition , very good colors , records DV and HD , Touch screen LCD

Weakness: Interlaced video looks bad on computer screen , expensive , batteries lasting aprox 1 hour , you cannot delete footage from the middle of the cassette , slow focus when zomming moving objects

Well ,the HC3 was in Lisbon , Portugal just a few days after the releasing date and i did not miss the chance .. spent several months surfing the net looking for the best. And guess what: there isn't! Chosed the one that was close to the best! But keep in mind that if you are into informatics and use your computer (dual pentium or something like that as the mp4 HD files are hard to decode even to...

Excellent High Def Camcorder

Strengths: Great High Def Video camcorder. colors are great.

Weakness: No Mic-in jack, no analog-to-digital passth', No memory card supplied, proprietary (expensive) Sony accessories - memory stick pro/microphone/video light/battery.

It has great video, no doubt. It is about 2" smaller than the previous sony HDR HC1. I handled them both at Bestbuy store and HC3 is lighter and prettier. . So far, there is no other company (Canon/Panasonic/JVC) with consumer high definition camcorders, so Sony can charge whatever they please for their proprietary formats. Wish there was more competition in the market (Sanyo also has one high...

Great Camcorder

Strengths: Great Still Pictures. If you like HD you'll love seeing your own HD movies. Having both a camcorder and still picture camera in one saves having lug two cameras around

Weakness: A little pricey but what do you expect for HD. HD does not burn to DVD yet. The writers are comming soon.

The camera has plenty of controls for the normal camcorder user. I am no way a professional and probably will never use the adjustments that it provides. Great HD video and still pictures out of the box. Easy button makes it idiot proof. Can't wait until HD dvd writers come out later this year.

Great camera small size and amazing video

Strengths: The camera is smaller then last year model. Has amazing quality video in HD mode. SD is standard. Its a simple point and shoot camcorder. Not much manual controls.

Weakness: I hate the "hot shoe" accessory port. The price...ouch. Other then those two nothing else. The touch screen menu.

I only had this camera for a short time less then two months and can't really grade on how long lasting this camcorder going to be but the built quality is superior. If you take care of it, it should last you years to come. The video is amazing on this thing, the sound is fair and the LCD screen is nice. Performance really well in low light. You can burn HD files out as DATA and try to play it on...

Sony Handycam HDR-HC3 Digital Camcorder - 2.7" LCD -...

Strengths: Image quality, battery life

Weakness: No mic in, no software, expensive Sony accesories, lacks many manual settings

An excellent camera for the amateur that values easy operation. For the semi pro and pro not good as there are many settings that can't be manually adjusted.

Sony HDR-HC3

Strengths: Fits the hand like a glove, hi def, 4MP stills, lots of features

Weakness: round instead of slim so it's tough to put in my computer bag...

I've been using the Sony DCR series camcorders for a number of years and was somewhat hesitant to move to this model because of it's roundness instead of slimness. Now that I've used it for a month I'd never go back. It fits my hand like a glove, far better than the DCR models ever did. The picture quality is excellent. You can record everything in HD but down-convert to standard when capturing...

Sony HDR-HC3 Mini DV

Not since Sony's first HDV camera, the FX1, has an HDV camcorder generated so much buzz. The Sony HDR-HC3 is aimed at the amateur shooter who wants Hi-Def at a Low-Def price. Great 1080i video is recorded to tape and can be viewed nicely on your 16:9 HDTV set using its HDMI connection. The sleek HC3 easily melds tech and usability, but the prosumer or advanced shooter will want to look at Sony's...
