Canon Zr500 ReviewStrengths: Cheap and Good Value for the Money, Comes with Microphone input, Wide Screen Viewer, Good video is dark environment Weakness: Its the lowest end of the Camcorder line from Canon. If you are looking for Photo, SD Card Capability then look for ZR-600 or above, Motor Noise if you record in silent environment,Saturated Color My first camcorder was Canon ZR20. This is my 3rd camcorder. I like the ZR500 except for the motor noise which occurs in silent environment like home. This is due to the high gain sound pickup by the internal mic. You can listen to the noise when you play it on the TV. This is compensatated if you have an external mic such as atr-25 attached outside with a L clamp. The video quality is good even...

Great camcorder buy!Strengths: Very compact (smaller than my digital camera), good picture quality, very easy to use, audio and picture on playback Weakness: None I researched camcorders for a long time and finally decided on this ZR500. For the price it has better qualities than the comparison Panasonic and Sony models in the same price range. We got it a few days ago and have been using it like crazy. We just took it on an outing with our kids today and not only did we have a lot of fun taping them, but they were able to easily use it also (ages 7 & 9)....

Canon zr500 CamcorderStrengths: Great quality for the money. Small size - lightweight and easy to use as a point and shoot or a more sophisticated camcorder. Excellent picture and sound quality. Weakness: Small viewfinder makes it difficult to use especially when larger battery is used. This camcorder is a bargain for the money. Picture and sound quality are outstanding and there is no loss in quality when transferring to a DVD recorder. Its compact size makes it an excellent travel companion for vacations. Its auto mode is great for normal shooting but when put in program mode it has a host of options which can be used for more sophisticated photography.

Good low-end camcorderStrengths: good outdoor image quality, compact design Weakness: indoor performance is not so well This Canon low-end digital camcorder is a good value for the money, the outdoor video quality is outstanding, while the indoor quality is not so good in my opinion. since most low-end digital camcorders can not deliver good performance in low-light setting, the canon ZR500 is still a good choice if you are on budget.

Canon ZR500Strengths: It is very small and easy to work. It didnt take me very long to figure out the basics. The instructions were very clear and the different buttons are in very handy places. Weakness: The battery life is only 60 minutes, but it wont be difficult to buy another one. I set out looking for a good camera. After doing a lot of research on the internet and several stores, I bought this camera at Circut City. The salesman was very friendly and bragged tremendously about this camera. I had also done some previous shopping around at Target and the salesman there said that Canon will provide the best quality for the best price. I am very pleased with this model and...

The best Canon ZR camcorder ever made!Strengths: External microphone port, easy to use functions, nice widescreen format and best of all the wonderful picture quality with extended zoom Weakness: None for the price This is the best MiniDV camcorder out there under $250. Some online stores are selling them for around $200. I purchased mine at the start of the summer and I beat it up with heavy user load with my kids at theme parks since the purchase. It still works like new and the picture quality is excellent outdoors. I spent many hours of research for a good camcorder for under $250. Look no further......

ZR500 ReviewStrengths: -small size -easy to use -good picture quality -has a mic input -good price (paid $223) Weakness: -poor on board mic (picks up motor noise) -no mounting shoe for accessories So far I really enjoy this camcorder. It is my first camcorder and it is perfect for my budget. If you buy this camera, plan on buying an external mic and an L bracket to mount it on. I bought the ATR-25 and a mounting bracket and the sound quality is much better. With the on board mic you pick up a lot of motor noise. I would recommend this camera to people on a budget.

Perfect for a novice videographerStrengths: (1) A 2.7" high res. widescreen LCD display (2) 25X optical zoom (3) Image stabilization technology (4) Built-in lens cover (5) Small & sleek design (6) Affordable price (7) Ease of use Weakness: (1) No picture taking function We purchased this camcorder as a replacement to an outdated Sony HI-8 that required two repairs during a 5 year period. We primarily use our camcorder as a means to capture all of those timeless (and sometimes just silly) moments in our family's life. We were cautious about spending too much money for electronics that are historically problematic. We decided to go with the Canon ZR500 based on...

Canon ZR500 Camcorder Review
The ZR500, Canon’s entry-level MiniDV camcorder, has improved greatly over last year’s ZR100. Offering an improved optical zoom, a widescreen LCD, a smaller, lighter body, and a new joystick interface – yes, say goodbye to the Canon jog dial. At $300 MSRP, they even managed to equip this little camcorder with an audio input. And Canon finally seem to have turned things around on thier low... Top

Quick Review Camcorders: Canon ZR500
The ZR500 is this year’s entry level camcorder from Canon, and let me tell you, there is a lot to like about this model. Starting with the microphone input, this camcorder caught our attention. It’s the only model in the ZR series to offer the feature, making it a stand-out model from the get-go. TopAdvertisement

OUTSTANDING Value, EXCELLENT video quality!
Strengths: Canon performance Ease of Use Novice can be up and running in less than 5 minutes!
Weakness: Low light performance (standard for ALL camcorders-- keep the lights on if filming inside!) battery (lasts about an hour max) Battery must charge while attached to camcorder
I researched every camcorder under $700 before deciding to buy this new Canon for $249 from Crutchfield.com. I checked CR.org, cnet.com, camcorderinfo.com, and every vendor website with reviews I could find. Here's the bottom line: This camcorder is the LOWEST priced entry level camcorder on the market. It is a CANON and performs as you would expect a CANON to perform. Picture quality is...
