Amazingly small for an HD recorderStrengths: Small, uses SD flash memory, HD Weakness: Hard to take steady shots, auto-focus a little to aggresive Bought this camera for its ability to record in HD. Images are incredibly sharp and by using SD cards makes it real easy to carry extra storage with you. Being so small makes it easy to carry in your pocket but makes it hard to hold steady even with built in image stabilization. LCD screen is easy to see and swivels into most any position you want. Low light images are more than acceptable. Take the time to try all the image settings, it can really help your finished product. I bought this at nearly 1/2 off the retail price making it's shortcomings easier to swallow. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD700 | Brown
The Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD700 ($600) released in late-October 2007 is the latest HD camcorder in the Sanyo Xacti line. Along with the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000 (records 1080i, $1000), Sanyo has made significant improvements to their Xacti line that included the earlier... Top

Great consumer level HD cam
Strengths: 720p HD, compact size, light weight, bang for buck value
Weakness: Tiny flimsy plastic port covers, lens cap, limited optical zoom
By far, the best bang for your buck, consumer level HD video/digicam. Takes impressive HD video recordings as well as pretty good 7MP still shots. Low light shooting could be better, but for the price, you can't complain. The size and weight is great. You can easily take this camera around with you all day in your pocket with no hassle. Biggest complaints are the port covers are snap-in and seemingly flimsy plastic, and the lens cap is somewhat annoying to snap off and on. Otherwise, get an 8GB SDHC card and enjoy recording everything in beautiful 720p glory.
