Sony Handycam DCR-VX2000 Digital Camcorder - 2.5"...

Strengths: This is a great piece and I'd stack it up against the new DVD recorders. Still images are superb and the camera is so light.

Weakness: Stock battery is marginally adequate. Taking a still shot while taping is slow and the video images freezes although audio maintains continuity.

I originally bought one of the first 2000's at near list price for a trip to Hawaii. It was my hope I wouldn't have to lug my 35mm and it's accessories everywhere. I was very pleased.The 35mm stayed in it's bag after the first day.The still shots are amazingly clear and in the super fine mode enlarge well for a 2 MP camera.The image stabalization system proved it's worth onboard a cruise ship through white capped seas. The video footage of lava creeping down a rockbed was vibrant. On board light filters allow quick changes from indoors to out. The zoom lens provides amazing close ups. At the airport, I was able to bring the individual lug nuts into view on a plane some 1000 feet away. Hard to believe there could be improvements available.

Strengths: Ease of use, and excellent handling.

Weakness: No xlr inputs/outputs.

This is an excellent camera. Just shot a music video and the color and audio are excellent. I would buy it again!!
The zoom and focus action are very smooth, very much like the more expensive cameras.

Strengths: Quality, price, features

Weakness: none/maybe XLR inputs

Decided to spend the extra bucks for the 2000 because of it's low light capability.
Just got my two Sony cams dvc2000 and dvc72 in the mail. They were in factory sealed boxes with a full US warranty from an authorized dealer. And they work fine straight from the box.
OK! The 2000 came with PIXELA and Picture Gear. The 72 came with imagemixer. Everything was double boxed and my charge card was charged well after the merchandise was shipped. This is my 3rd year of buying stuff from 6th ave. I have never been less than pleased with their great service. I will buy again and again. Thanks guys.
